The sweepstakes website is located at http://www.lifesgoldenticket.com/gifts.

Life's Golden Ticket is a self-help parable about a man who visits an enchanted amusement park to honor the mysterious last wish of his dying fiancĂ©e and the series of miraculous insights he has there that help him uncover a secret golden ticket-and a second chance at life. Essay and Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarships up to $4,000.00!

Junior Achievement of Arizona offers two opportunities to middle school students and high school seniors who have been enrolled in a Junior Achievement program during the current 2007-2008 school year.  Seniors are eligible to apply for our JA of Arizona Senior Scholarships and middle school students are eligible to participate in our Herman Schmidt Essay Contest.

These two opportunities are only available to Arizona students so the eligible applicants are competing with a smaller pool of candidates with the largest award valued at $5,000!  Don't miss out, visit www.jaaz.org for additional information and application forms.

Best Buy Partnership

Best Buy Job Shadow

Through a strong partnership with Best Buy, nearly 350 Arizona students will learn fundamental business and economic concepts through the JA Job Shadow program this year.  High School students complete in-class JA lessons to prepare them for an on-site visit to a local Best Buy store.  Best Buy employees host students for 4.5 hours, introducing them to the requirements and shared responsibilities of the work place.  Students make the connection between academics and careers, and Best Buy employees demonstrate that lifelong learning is important to continued success in the workplace.

We inspire students to be entrepreneurial in their approach to work.  Through practical work in the classroom and applied efforts on site, Best Buy and JA provide students with skills needed to research, get and keep a job, as well as develop innovative strategies to achieve lifelong learning pursuits and career opportunities.

Thank you, Best Buy Stores.  Together, we are inspiring our young people to succeed in a global economy!

JA invited high school students to the Scottsdale Waterfront to show off their smarts in a fun, friendly JA competition held on a miniature football field.  Sponsored by the One5ive Foundation, Papa John's Pizza and Best Buy, the JA BizBowl is a game that tests students' knowledge of economics, financial literacy, JA trivia and work readiness.

Scott Flansburg, who is known as the "fastest human calculator" in the Guinness Book of World Records, emceed our event.  He also taught the students and spectators about the power of the number 9 during their lunch of hot, delicious Papa John's Pizza.

JA Board members Pete Rathwell of Snell & Wilmer, Marcia Wepfer of Wells Fargo and Jules Veloria of Hewlett-Packard were on hand as event judges.  Adrian Jones of the Kansas City Chiefs and boxing champion Ron Johnson supported the competitors and encouraged them to continue to focus on education as the key to success in life.

The scores were close but the Alhambra team prevailed, taking the first place trophy back to school.  All of the students and teachers from Desert Mountain, East Valley Academy (2nd), Gateway Early College High, Highland (3rd) and Job's for Arizona's Graduates should be proud of their participation in this event.  A super thank you to the teachers, volunteers, sponsors and to the students who showed up ready to compete!
