JA Student Stock Market Challenge

Date: November 10th, 2011

Location: Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa

The Junior Achievement (JA) Student Stock Market Challenge, a fast-paced, interactive simulation of the stock market, will be held November 10, 2011 at the Arizona Biltmore. After a JA volunteer leads the Take Stock in Your Future program in the classroom, the high-energy JA Student Stock Market Challenge simulation gives over 300 high school students first-hand experience with trading as they buy and sell stocks from a list of 26 fictitious companies.

This fast-paced, interactive simulation of the stock market has students practicing math, communication, team-building, and critical thinking skills while working to build the biggest portfolio within the two-hour live simulation.

In 2010, the top schools were: Desert Vista High (1st and 3rd place), Corona del Sol High (2nd place), Highland High, Seton Catholic High, and Fountain Hills High. After the event, students participate in a follow-up lesson about saving and investing.
