Junior Achievement BizTown™

JA BizTown™ introduces students to the free enterprise system through active participation in a simulated town. 4th through 6th graders learn the relationship between education, community, economics and lifestyle by working in a bank, or television station, or a retail store where they have to write checks, manage business finances, and pay bills.

For the JA BizTown™ program, each school is required to bring between 16 & 20 volunteers to assist with their visit. The volunteers attend training 1 hour before the school arrives, and then assist the students in their assigned businesses throughout the 4.5 hour day. Volunteers serve as “business consultants,” leading staff meetings, helping the students to read and understand their job directions, and reminding the students to stay on task and focus on their goals.

There are many schools that unable to recruit enough parent volunteers to support them on their visit to JA BizTown™. If you are interested in assisting schools on an “on-call” basis, please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form.

Citizen Advisory Team

The Citizen Advisory Team is a group of trained volunteers that assist the CFOs in JA BizTown™ for 4 or more days per school year. Some of the duties of the Citizen Advisory Team include providing extra support to the JA staff in the busier shops, working with the CFOs to pay their bills, and helping the CFOs to make loan payments with the money earned in JA BizTown™. CAT members attend an extra training to become “experts” on the CFO duties in JA BizTown™, and spend many rewarding days working one on one with the students.
