Former JA 18 Under 18 Takes Center Stage

Posted in: 18 Under 18, Alumni Stories

In 2018, Charlie Hall became one of JA’s 18 Under 18 at just 11 years old. Admired for his talent and love of theatre, Charlie, a writer, director, and choreographer, captivated the JA audience. We were fortunate to recently get in touch with Charlie’s grandfather, John Hall, to get an update on how Charlie is today!

Since the 18 Under 18 award in 2018, Charlie has been in multiple productions as well as directed another show independently.  During the COVID shut down, when large groups were not able to gather in doors, Charlie got a small group of youth together outdoors in his own backyard to produce his own version of Frozen, The Musical, and performed it to families who were socially distanced in the backyard audience as well as a rather good size audience on a Facebook Live stream.  The production filled a need for Charlie as well as many other youth who were itching to perform.

Some of his other credits since the time he earned the JA award are Newsies, Fame Jr, A Christmas Carol, Les Miserables, Footloose, Into the Woods, Freaky Friday, and Matilda.  He continues to take dance lessons as well as voice lessons to continue to broaden his skills.

We are so proud of the work Charlie is doing for the arts community and continue to wish him the best!
