Meet Rocco. He’s one of our JA Young Ambassadors. He’s a great example of the students we serve. Here’s his JA story:
“My name is Rocco and I am in 8th grade. I first got to know Junior Achievement when I went on a field trip to JA Biztown in 5th and 6th grade. My class learned about running a town and how to handle a day in the life of a business person. We worked in our assigned jobs and experienced regular adult responsibilities like balancing our checkbooks and running errands.
As the restaurant CEO, I learned skills like managing my time, working with people, following budgets, and how to make better decisions in stressful situations. It gave me a good picture of what life will be like when I get older and get a job, and how important it is to budget and save money. I also learned that a successful business has to have employees that work together as a team.
I was honored to join the JA Young Ambassador Program and have really enjoyed and benefited from the experience. It has been fun to meet people that work in different areas, and I have learned skills like public speaking, thinking on my feet, and how important it is to network with people from all over the business world. The skills I have learned from my JA experience will help me be more prepared for my life in the future as a hopeful business person!”
